Shell Island, one of Europe’s largest campsites, is a landmark destination in Gwynedd, North Wales. With thousands of visitors every year, the site includes multiple areas of operation — from reception and booking desks, to a busy quay, to a popular snack bar.

To keep everything running smoothly, Shell Island needed flexible, modern EPOS solutions that could adapt to the specific needs of each part of the business.

The Brief – A Unified But Flexible System

The challenge was to provide different teams across the site with tailored solutions that:

  • Supported fast, reliable payments across  multiple areas.
  • Modernised old hardware with up-to-date EPOS software.
  • Reduced queues and improved customer ordering experiences.
  • Connected seamlessly with the kitchen to eliminate lost orders.

 

 

The Solution – Bespoke Installations Across the Site

We deployed a range of solutions, designed specifically for each area:

Reception

  • 3x TouchPoint rental terminals for handling bookings and check-ins.
  • Dojo integration for seamless card payments.

The Quay

  • iMin D1 Android device installed with SumUp integration for a simple, flexible payment solution.

Snack Bar

  • Upgraded TouchPoint terminals replacing older hardware.
  • TouchTakeaway site allowing customers to order from their caravan and pick up later.
  • Self-service Kiosk so customers can order without queuing.
  • TouchKitchen v3 installed to send all orders digitally to the kitchen, eliminating the need for paper tickets.
